Xiaomi’s Redmi line of phones now has a flagship model as the Chinese smartphone makers have unveiled the Redmi Pro at an event held at Beijing today.

First off, specifications. The Redmi Pro is an all-metal smartphone that will feature a 5.5″ Full HD OLED display, marking the first time a Xiaomi phone uses an OLED display. For its interiors, the flagship version of the Redmi Pro will be utilising MediaTek’s Helio X25, a deca-core (10-core) processor that is clocked at 2.5GHz. The Redmi Pro will also come with 4GB of RAM, a 4,050mAh battery, and up to 128GB of storage. In line with modern day smartphones, the Redmi Pro will come with a Samsung-ish fingerprint scanner, as well as a USB Type-C port.

As for the rear camera, the Redmi Pro will be going the dual lens route as it sports a 13MP main shooter and a secondary 5MP camera. Unlike standard dual-lens camera setups, the main 13MP camera will be dedicated to capturing still images, while the secondary 5MP camera is used to capture depth information. According to Xiaomi, this would give the pictures captured by the Redmi Pro an outstanding DSLR-quality bokeh.

Three variants of the Redmi Pro will be made available on the 6th of August in China. The Helio X20 – 3GB RAM version will retail for CNY1,499 (RM915), the Helio X25 – 3GB RAM variant will retail for CNY1,699 (RM1,038), and the Helio X25 – 4GB version will retail for CNY1,999 (RM1,221).
