After Xiaomi released the Mi Bunny watch for kids, we’re almost sure that the company caters to people from all walks of life, and it has nailed it yet again. This time, the Chinese manufacturer has announced a GPS-enabled smartwatch, not for kids, but for people like you and me. Meet the Amazfit, which aesthetically, already looks amazing.
Manufactured by Huami, Xiaomi’s partner, who were responsible for making its Mi Bands, the Amazfit will work through Xiaomi’s Mi Fit app on your smartphones. That’s right, we’re not seeing Android Wear being adopted by the OEM just yet, but if you’re coming from the likes of the current Mi Band, the Amazfit shouldn’t disappoint.
The Amazfit will definitely feature the standard activity and fitness tracking like the rest. The wearable sports a decently sized 1.34-inch display with a 300×300 resolution, a 1.2GHz processor alongside 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, possibly for Xiaomi’s own apps. The watch also packs a 200mAh battery which Xiaomi claims to last up to five days on a single charge, and 30 hours if you have its GPS is enabled. Also not forgetting, a heart rate sensor located at the bottom. The ceramic bezel surrounding the Amazfit’s display is said to be scratch resistant, and the smartwatch has an IP67 rating, making it water and dust resistant. The wearable is also fitted with a 22mm band, which allows users to switch up on their own favorite 22mm bands as a customization option.
Xiaomi has also struck an agreement to bring China’s Alipay digital wallet to the Amazfit, courtesy of Alibaba. This will be a huge plus for users residing in China. The Amazfit will be a China-exclusive device for the time being, and priced at ¥799 (RM486.03), this makes it a direct competitor to Alcatel’s OneTouch watch that was launched last year.
