Microsoft’s aggressive approach in pushing Windows 10 has finally bit them in the rear as a woman in California has successfully sued Microsoft over an unwanted Windows 10 upgrade.

As reported by the Seattle Times, a woman by the name of Teri Goldstein sued the makers of Windows when her computer started trying to download and install Windows 10. According to Goldstein, the update to Windows 10 had failed and resulted in her computer to slow down and crash frequently, affecting her California-based travel-agency business. After a failed attempt to solve the issue by contacting Microsoft support, Goldstein resorted to the courts, seeking compensation for lost wages as well as the cost of a new computer.

Goldstein would win the court case against Microsoft. Microsoft was looking to appeal the court decision, but has decided last month to drop said appeal to avoid the expense of further litigation. In the end, Goldstein managed to collect a USD 10,000 judgment from Microsoft. While Microsoft has dropped the decision to appeal the court’s decision, a Microsoft spokesman states that the company denies any wrongdoing.

This is the first case where Microsoft has been brought to court over its at-times intrusive attempt to get people to install Windows 10. Seeing as the free Windows 10 upgrade offer will run until the 29th of July, we expect a few more lawsuits to be aimed towards Microsoft during the next month or so.
