The recent launch of Samsung Galaxy A8s marks the first time the company has decided to omit the headphone jack. This is however unknown to many if it’s just a one-time occasion or if other Samsung smartphones will follow the footsteps of the A8s, which is a huge concern right now because many are wondering if the Galaxy S10 will come with a headphone jack or not.
According to Gordon Kelly from Forbes, he received an exclusive image from Samsung’s redesigned Galaxy S10 and it seems that the smartphone will be launched without any headphone jack. From the concept image that was acquired from LetsGoDigital, the flagship device that has an Infinity-O display comes with no bezels and no headphone jack on the bottom. In addition to that, a past report from Bloomberg also indicated that Samsung has been toying with a Galaxy S10 prototype that does not have a headphone jack.
However, the information above is not definite as there are also some contradicting information. For example, a company that produces phone cases called Olixar has shown several cases that will fit the Galaxy S10, and these cases all show that there is a hole made for the headphone jack. Olixar also made sure that those cases are available for pre-orders already, so it seems like the company is particularly sure that the phone will come with a headphone jack. In addition to that, there’s also a Twitter account known as Ice Universe who’ve also posted a short video on the Galaxy S10 case that also shows a hole for the headphone jack.
Apart from that, there are also speculations that the Korean company is actually using the Galaxy A8s to find out how their consumers will react to the absence of the headphone jack, and only then will they decide whether to omit or to keep the headphone jack on the S10 devices.
But since Samsung gave up on placing a headphone jack on the A8s, it seems like they will soon omit the headphone jack for future Samsung smartphones, so the S10 might either come with no headphone jack, or be the last Samsung flagship smartphone with a headphone jack.
