WhatsApp finally have an iOS beta program for its users earlier this month, which is why now the beta users get to try out the new UI improvements for WhatsApp’s group calls.

A few months back WhatsApp decided to introduce group calls to its users, allowing them to video or audio call their friends, 4 participants at a time. However, the way to have a group call is by first calling one individual before adding more participants to the call, making it a group call. Now with the new UI, the Group call button will now appear in group chats, so users can actually call their friends altogether at once.

Of course, the group video or audio call will still be limited to four participants at once. When the user click on the group call button, they will be shown a list of contacts in the group in which they can pick up to three, then they’ll be given the option to either video call or audio call the participants. In addition to that, users can only call those whose numbers are saved in their contact books, or else the contact will not show up in the list of contacts.

The new beta version 2.18.110.17 also fixes the few bugs that has occurred in WhatsApp such GIFs that suddenly stop playing, unintentional trigger of haptic feedback when opening chats, and inability to download and send WhatsApp Stickers. Other issues include sudden addition or dismissal as Admin in a group, localisation issues when chatting with businesses and also issues when searching for chats, contacts and messages.

According to WABetaInfo, the new UI improvement to the group calls will soon be available to iOS users in App Store, possibly in the next few weeks.
