WhatsApp has been working on a new desktop app that run’s on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). This app is set to have added features like the Multi-Device mode that was introduced earlier this year.
Now you might confuse this with the already available WhatsApp desktop app, however, this is a completely new software that has a redesigned UI, that takes a more minimalistic approach. It also facilitates the new Multi-Device feature that allows you to use the app without your phone connected.
It was also revealed that this application will be coming to Apple devices, with the integration of macOS Catalyst. This works where it uses the iPad app to enable it to run on a Mac.
When multi-device 2.0 will be released, you can link WhatsApp for iPad with your WA account on your iPhone. You can message and call people from your iPad without an active Internet connection on your iPhone.

The Mac version will look identical to the iPad application but will have improvements to the UI that would make it compatible with a desktop interface. Right now, this application is still under development and won’t be released until the iPad version is launched.
But of course, all of this is still under early development and more features and details will be revealed later. For now, only the WhatsApp Windows app is open for beta and can be downloaded on the Microsoft store.
