WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging app worldwide has been constantly improving since it was introduced, which is no surprise given the emerging competition from other texting apps. Earlier this week, WhatsApp has begun rolling out the two step verification feature to strengthen its security when a user registers a phone number to the app. Recently, WhatsApp beta testers have gotten a taste of the video calling feature not too long ago, and it looks like video calling will be official on WhatsApp.

According to the post by WhatsApp on its own blog, the folks at WhatsApp have been receiving numerous requests to add video calling into the app over the years. One of the reasons behind this brand new video calling feature is because of the fact that texts and voice calls are just not sufficient enough for a more personal connection. The WhatsApp update which includes video calling is currently rolling out, and over the next few days, users across the Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices will be able to get their hands on the update.

The WhatsApps video calling feature can be accessed via the chat window when you tap on the phone call icon on the top right corner. WhatsApp will then prompt you with a choice of either a voice call or a video call. Bear in mind that both parties must have the app updated with the video calling feature in order to carry out video calls. A couple of weeks back, WhatsApp has been spotted testing out a feature which is similar to Snapchat Stories and Instagram Stories, so let’s hope for that to roll out some time in the future. What do you think?
