Volvo Car Malaysia has officially marked a new chapter in its electrification journey with the launch of the Volvo ES90, the brandโ€™s first fully electric sedan and a milestone model that signals Volvoโ€™s vision for premium electric mobility in Malaysia. Assembled locally in Shah Alam, the ES90 represents more than just a new addition to the lineup, positioning itself as a flagship expression of Scandinavian design, advanced safety and next-generation connectivity, tailored for modern Malaysian drivers.

Priced from RM339,888, the Volvo ES90 is now available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers nationwide. To encourage early adopters, Volvo Car Malaysia is offering a limited 2% early-bird incentive for the first 100 units booked by 31 March 2026, giving customers a timely opportunity to step into Volvoโ€™s latest electric era.

Designed as a balance between elegance, practicality and sustainability, the ES90 blends the sleek silhouette of a fastback with the interior spaciousness typically associated with an SUV. The result is a refined electric sedan that feels both executive and versatile, offering generous legroom and a calm, lounge-like cabin atmosphere inspired by Volvoโ€™s Scandinavian design philosophy. The slightly raised ride height provides a commanding driving position, while the flowing roofline enhances aerodynamics and contributes to overall efficiency.

Underpinning the ES90 is Volvoโ€™s most advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling significantly faster charging compared to conventional EV platforms. When connected to a 350kW DC fast charger, the ES90 can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 22 minutes, reducing downtime during long-distance travel. On a full charge, the sedan delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 651 kilometres, making interstate journeys between major Malaysian cities possible with confidence and minimal range anxiety.

The exterior design retains Volvoโ€™s signature identity while introducing fresh visual cues unique to the ES90. The familiar Thorโ€™s Hammer LED headlights dominate the front, while the rear features distinctive C-shaped LED taillights paired with illuminated rear window elements that create a memorable welcome and farewell lighting sequence. Buyers can choose from four exterior colours including Vapour Grey, Crystal White, Denim Blue and Onyx Black.

Practicality has not been overlooked despite the ES90โ€™s premium positioning. A wide tailgate hatch opens up to a boot capacity of 424 litres, which can be expanded to 904 litres with the 40/20/40 split rear seats folded down. A 27-litre front luggage compartment provides additional storage space for charging cables or smaller items, enhancing everyday usability.

Inside, the cabin emphasises comfort, functionality and sustainable materials. The long 3.1-metre wheelbase translates into generous second-row legroom, while ventilated Nordico upholstery in Charcoal delivers a premium feel with a modern, eco-conscious edge. Six curated ambient lighting themes enhance the in-cabin experience, while a panoramic electrochromic glass roof allows occupants to adjust transparency at the touch of a button, offering up to 99.9 percent UV protection.

Thermal comfort is managed by a four-zone climate control system equipped with an advanced air purifier capable of blocking up to 95 percent of PM2.5 particulates and removing 99.9 percent of common allergens such as pollen. Combined with exceptional sound insulation, the ES90 delivers one of the quietest cabins Volvo has ever produced, allowing occupants to fully appreciate the premium audio experience.

That experience is anchored by a high-end Bowers & Wilkins sound system featuring 25 speakers and 1,610 watts of output. Dolby Atmos support delivers immersive spatial audio, while an exclusive Abbey Road Studios mode recreates the acoustics of the iconic London recording space, elevating in-car entertainment to a new level.

Technologically, the ES90 is Volvoโ€™s first model powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin platform, capable of processing vast amounts of data in real time to support advanced safety and driver assistance systems. Built on Volvoโ€™s Superset technology stack, the vehicle is designed to improve over time through over-the-air updates, enhancing efficiency, features and user experience throughout ownership.

The infotainment system runs Google built-in with Google Maps, Google Assistant and access to apps via Google Play, displayed across a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, a 9-inch driver display and a head-up display. Powered by Qualcommโ€™s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform with 5G connectivity, the interface is responsive and intuitive, while a 360-degree camera system with 3D surround view assists with parking and tight manoeuvres.

Sustainability remains a core focus of the ES90โ€™s development, with extensive use of recycled and bio-based materials. Twenty-nine percent of the aluminium and 18 percent of the steel used in the vehicle are recycled, alongside 16 percent recycled polymers and FSC-certified wood trim, helping to reduce the carโ€™s overall carbon footprint.

Safety, a cornerstone of Volvoโ€™s identity, is delivered through a comprehensive sensor suite comprising radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors, supporting features such as collision avoidance, driver monitoring and door-opening alerts to protect cyclists and pedestrians. Built to Volvo Carsโ€™ stringent internal safety standards, the ES90 continues the brandโ€™s legacy of real-world safety leadership.

The Volvo ES90 is now open for booking in Malaysia, with customers able to configure and order the vehicle online or through authorised Volvo retailers, marking the arrival of a new electric flagship that blends refined luxury, intelligent technology and sustainable performance into one cohesive package.
