Our last Under the Radar talked about the retro gaming consoles that made us nostalgic, but today’s Under the Radar will bring us back to the present and how cool and well-developed gadgets have become. Here are some of the devices that prove how far we’ve come in the world of technology.

1. Mad Catz L.Y.N.X.9 Mobile Hybrid Controller

Retro controllers may be cool, but so are hybrid controllers. The Mad Catz L.Y.N.X.9 Hybrid Controller combines a console, a keyboard and a mouse, transforming it into a versatile device fit for gamers no matter which platform they’d like to game on.

With an advanced design, the hybrid controller is not only ergonomic but also durable — said to be able to last up to a million cycles. It can also link smart devices to HDTVs and for streamers out there, users can play PC games without a PC via OnLive and Steam.

The Mad Catz L.Y.N.X.9 Mobile Hybrid Controller is available in three colours: Gloss Black, Gloss Red and Gloss White. You can get it on Amazon for the price of $119.99.

2. Mini Smartphone Gaming Joystick

The hybrid controller can be used on smartphone games, but it is quite large compared to this Mini Smartphone Gaming Joystick (and it’s also pricier). The Mini Smartphone Gaming Joystick is around the size of your thumb and it clips right to your screen so you can control your character’s movement with the joystick instead of tapping on your screen.

The joystick design doesn’t leave residue or glue, and it can be easily taken off whenever you want. It’s made of metal, PC material, TPU and fiber so it’s durable, flexible and also portable.

The Mini Smartphone Gaming Joystick can be purchased at only $11 and is available in Red, Yellow and Sky Blue.

3. Peregrine Glove ST

I bet most of you didn’t know there’s such thing as a gaming glove — not the apparel kind, like legit a glove that is like a console. If you do know, then I apologise for being the one living under a rock. The Peregrine Glove ST is a glove you wear on your left hand and with that left hand, you can control your characters in game like League of Legends.

Basically, the glove has 17 touch points that make keystrokes when touched by the thumb tip contact. While it’s a really cool piece of tech, those who don’t know what this device is will probably think you’re doing some calculations with your left hand, just like the GIF below.

Yes, it’s a bit tedious but hey, we’ll do whatever to look slightly cooler than others. The glove is also washable so don’t worry about it collecting germs. At the price of $179.95, get ready to splurge if you really want this gaming glove.

4. DreamGlass Air

AR is one of the newest advancement in technology and the DreamGlass Air utilises AR technology to create your own personal cinema with its 100-inch AR screen. It’s the AR glasses that is compatible with Android devices, iPhones, iPads, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and also Mac.

It has a 90-degree field of view, supports multi-screen features, has wireless tethering and a five-hour battery life. Just put on the glasses and you can watch your shows, movies and even games without sharing it with others.

The DreamGlass Air can be pledged from $299 onwards and is estimated to deliver in January 2020.
