Ubisoft is now suing Apple and Google for allowing a ripoff of its Rainbow Six: Siege to be on their app stores.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbox Six: Siege is a popular Ubisoft game that has 55 million registered players and is also an esports game, so naturally the company is unhappy when there’s a ripoff version of its game. Titled “Area F2”, this ripoff is created by Alibaba and is described as a “near carbon copy” by the Rainbow Six: Siege developer.
According to a report by Bloomberg, “Virtually every aspect of AF2 is copied from R6S, front he operator selection screen to the final scoring screen, and everything in between,” said Ubisoft. The company also added that both Google and Apple have been notified of copyright infringement, but the game remains on their app stores.
As of now, Area F2 is only available in the U.S on smartphones and can be downloaded for free. Meanwhile, Rainbow Six: Siege will cost you RM70 on PC and is not available on Android and iOS devices.
