Hiring an Uber during Surge Pricing periods will be a lot easier soon as the company will be giving users a guaranteed fixed price for a ride instead of an estimated fare.
Initially available in U.S. cities such as Miami, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego and Seattle, the Uber app will display a fixed price when you select a destination. This quoted price will not change even in the event that your Uber driver gets lost along the trip. If you were to change your destination during the ride, you or the driver can update the trip and the price will be updated on the spot.
No solid timeline was given as to when guaranteed pricing will be arriving on the Uber app outside of the U.S. cities mentioned above, but with India receiving this feature not too long ago, you can expect guaranteed prices to land in Malaysia within the next few months.
