U Mobile isn’t stopping when it comes to improving its network, as CMO Jasmine Lee has revealed on her Facebook post that the telco has activated VoLTE (Voice over LTE), which enables crystal clear voice call over the network, otherwise known as HD voice. U Mobile’s VoLTE service is currently enabled on the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus and SE, a similar roll out plan like its previous VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) service, where Android devices will only receive the update at a later time.
It makes a lot of sense for U Mobile to roll out VoLTE to challenge Digi and Yes 4G, which the latter two has enabled VoLTE on their network, there are still people who still regularly place calls using the network rather than data, and this will also allow its subscribers to take advantage of the recently CallOnz unlimited call service on its postpaid plans, while staying connected to 4G for fast data speeds. However, it took quite a while for U Mobile to bring VoWiFi to Android devices after announcing it, and it only supports the Galaxy S7 edge at this point of time.
To activate U Mobile’s VoLTE service on your iPhone, go to the Settings app, tap on Cellular then Cellular Data Options, make sure the Voice & Data option is checked on the Enable LTE section. For more information on U Mobile’s VoLTE service, head on over to u.com.my/plans/data-services/volte
