WhatsApp users can now add on an additional layer of security to the service as WhatsApp has enabled the two-step verification feature for all users.

Previously only available for those who have the beta version of WhatsApp, this two-step verification step will require users to register a six-digit passcode. Once registered, WhatsApp would automatically prompt for this passcode whenever you register your phone number with WhatsApp.

In addition to the passcode, WhatsApp will also require you to input a separate e-mail address. This e-mail address will be used in the event that you’ve forgotten the passcode or if you wish to disable two-step verification in the event of an emergency.

Those who want to enable the feature ASAP can do so by opening the WhatsApp app, accessing the Settings screen and tapping on the Accounts tab. After that, tap on the two-step verification option and follow the instructions on screen to enable the feature.
