Apple’s chipmaker TSMC recently announced that it has managed to complete its 5nm design infrastructure which will enable future devices to come with 5nm chipsets.

According to Digitimes, the 5nm process supply better performance and power optimisation, and it can deliver 1.8x logic density and 15% speed gain when compared to the 7nm chips. “TSMC’s 5-nanometer technology offers our customers the industry’s most advanced logic process to address the exponentially growing demand for computing power driven by AI and 5G,” said Cliff Hou, VP of R&D and technology development at TSMC.

Apple has always been relying on TSMC as its suppler for A-series chips and according to 9to5mac, the company is going to for an even smaller size of 3nm for 2022 production.

While we cannot be sure that TSMC will be able to successfully complete the 3nm technology, we at least know that the 2020 iPhones will probably come with a 5nm chipset that will be able to support 5G network.
