TM is looking to upgrade its users' internet speeds in 2017

During the government’s 2017 budget announcement, Prime Minister Najib Razak mentioned that local Internet Service Providers have agreed to increase the speed of their fixed broadband services starting in 2017. Today, Telekom Malaysia has given us a more detailed look at the upcoming changes to their broadband plans.\

For UniFi customers, TM is looking to upgrade all Unifi customers to a plan that is a step above the preexisting one. For example, current UniFi Advance 30 users will be upgrade to UniFi Advance 50, while current UniFi Advance 50 users will be upgraded to UniFi Pro 100. This upgrade would not affect the subscription price in any way, shape or form.

As for those who are on TM’s Streamyx service, TM confirms that they will be introducing better packages in 2017. More information about the Streamyx service will be given in December.

The upgrades will begin rolling out in January 2017, and it will affect all eligible customers. Do note that the upgrade will be done in phases, so the internet speed increases will not be available across the board on Day 1.
