Three new Overwatch maps are on the horizon

For those of you who are not keeping track, Overwatch, currently the most popular first person shooter from blizzard was released 11 months ago. Since then, we have seen new heroes and maps steadily coming out in the past year. Since the release of Orisa, the newest hero that was added to the lineup was released we have not heard much from the developers about what is in store for the future of Overwatch, until now.

Game director Jeff Kaplan has replied in a forum thread that three new standard maps, maps used in Quick Play or Competitive Play, are in development and have passed the initial playtesting phase and are looking good for a release this year. He also added that three non-standard maps, maps used in the Arcade Mode, are also in development, but did not mention how long more in-development they will be or whether we will get to see them this year.

On another note, Jeff Kaplan also mentioned that the Overwatch team, have a few other experiments going on and are working as fast as they can to release the new maps. There is also speculation going around on the forums prior to the release of Orisa, the next hero that we might see is the long awaited Doomfist which has been speculated to release some time ago.
