These AMD Radeon RX 5700 GPUs overheat simply because of loose screws

If you’ve recently bought an ASUS ROG Radeon RX 5700 XT or Radeon RX 5700 GPU, then you may have experienced some overheating with your card. This isn’t ASUS’ fault however – upon investigating the issue, the Taiwanese company has identified the problem; a rather avoidable one.

These cards have been overheating simply due to the fact that a few screws were loose – the cooler on the card isn’t getting enough contact with the silicon as a result, and therefore cannot effectively cool down the device.

ASUS notes that they’ve been tightening the screws at the AMD-suggested 30-40 PSI of torque – but when investigating the issue, ASUS found that 50-60 PSI would’ve been better as it was found to have cooled down the cards much more effectively.

If you have the same issue, contact ASUS to have your device fixed  or replaced.
