Earlier this year in Q1 2016, Xiaomi launched the low mid range Redmi 3 handset. The company has just launched the Redmi Note 4, sparking a refresh for Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup. The non-Note Redmi is slated for an unveiling early next year, and rumors surrounding its specs, along with some renders have emerged for us to talk about.

Based on the leaked renders, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 seems to sport a design which pretty much applies for nearly mid range smartphones out there with a metal unibody. On the front is a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display which from the renders appear to have zero bezels on the sides. Moving on to its internals, the Redmi 4 is said to pack an octa core Snapdragon processor which is unspecified, though recent rumors tell us that it might be the Snapdragon 625. Alongside the processor are 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which will be expandable via micro SD.

The camera department is tipped to comprise of a standard 13MP rear camera with a 5MP front facing selfie shooter. Compared to the current Redmi 3, the Redmi 4’s rear camera appears to be positioned at the center instead. The latter is also rumored to be powered by a 4,000mAh battery, which happens to also be the case for the latter. The upcoming handset retains the rear fingerprint sensor seen below the camera, based on the above renders.

The Redmi 4 should be making an official appearance this coming January in 2017, such as the case with the Redmi 3 earlier this year. Do remember to take these rumors with a huge pinch of salt to avoid any form of disappointment. What do you think of the Redmi 4?
