The Realme U1 is the first smartphone to use the MTK Helio P70 chip

Realme’s latest smartphone is called the Realme U1, and it also the first smartphone to be equipped with the MTK Helio P70 chip, MediaTek’s latest and best chip in the MediaTek P-series.

The Helio P70 is an octa-core processor which promises better performance and battery consumption as it has the TSMC’s latest 12nm FinFET production process that can reduce up to 15% power consumption. The octa-core processor consists of four Cortex-A53 high-efficiency cores and four Cortex-A73 high-performance cores, and the P70 features a 900MHzARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU which increases the overall computing performance up to 13% compared to the predecessor, the P60. In addition to that, this new chip can actually offer better AI performance and stronger camera module support.

Other specs of the Realme U1 include the 6.3-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution and the water drop notch that was previously seen on the Realme 2 Pro. The phone also runs on ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1, and it comes in either 3GB RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage.

In terms of camera, the front of the phone has a 25MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture whereas the back is equipped with a 13MP+2MP dual camera with f/2.2 and f/2.4 apertures. It also has a 3500mAh battery that is integrated with AI Power Master to efficiently manage the power consumption of the device.

The Realme U1 comes in three colours which are Ambitious Black, Brave Blue and Fiery Gold, and it is expected to launch some time in December and both variants of the phone is rumoured to be less than RM1,000.
