The Olympus Pen-F combines artistic design and great imaging performance in a compact retro body

It may look like an retro camera that you might actually underestimate its capabilities, but the Olympus Pen-F is a surprisingly powerful compact micro four thirds interchangeable lens camera that is made for enthusiasts. Launched in Malaysia today, the Olympus Pen-F is the latest model from the company that sports a 20-megapixel Live MOS sensor and built-in 5-axis image stabiliser that achieves up to 5 EV steps of stability.

Defining the term “F” as freedom, the Pen-F is designed to let photographers unleash their skills without too much complications, the company has proudly shown off to us on how the camera is able to take detailed and stabilised shots in low light without needing a tripod. The camera also features a creative dial that allows user to switch between monochrome and colour profiles and apply filters to their pictures on the fly, and if you ever wanted to take extremely detailed pictures, the high-res shot will bump resolution of pictures up to 50-megapixels in JPEG and 80-megapixels in RAW format.

In other specs, the Olympus Pen-F has a high resolution 3-inch touch display with 1037k dots and a 2.36M dot OLED electronic viewfinder, processing is done by the company’s Trupic VII engine which will enable it to take Full HD resolution videos in 24, 25, 30 or 60 fps options, a fast 1/8000 shutter speed, 44ms of shutter lag  and 10 fps sequential shooting will also ensure that fast moving objects are captured properly. Olympus Malaysia has yet to reveal the pricing of the Pen-F however prices of the kit is expected to be priced at a premium RM7000 price tag, the Olympus Pen-F will be available on mid February this year.
