I was amazed when I realised the vivo APEX 2019 will be losing its physical buttons and port, but now Meizu is also doing something similar by unveiling their latest smartphone, the Meizu Zero.

The Meizu Zero probably gets its name because it has (almost) zero holes. It does not have speaker holes, volume buttons, power button, charging port, headphone jack and even a SIM card slot. The only hole that can be seen on the phone seems to be its mic hole, but apart from that, the whole phone is hole-less.

The Meizu Zero comes with a 5.99-inch OLED screen with rather thin side bezels and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone will also have no SIM card slot, meaning that it will start using eSIM instead.

It has a unibody chassis with ceramic design and sports a shiny finish on its back where there’s a dual camera setup. In addition, the Meizu Zero has an IP68 rating that allows resistance up to 30 minutes under 2m of water.

Meizu has also replaced the physical buttons with haptic feedback so users will instead get virtual buttons on its sides. As for the missing speaker holes, Meizu Zero comes with mSound 2.0 technology that allows the screen to function as a speaker. If the technology is similar to Samsung’s Sound on Display technology, then the technology works through vibration and bone conduction making it possible for sound emission to come from under the screen’s surface.

The Meizu Zero sports a 20MP front camera and 12+20MP dual rear camera. While the RAM and storage information have not been revealed, the phone is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor.

Aside from that, the Meizu Zero will also come wireless charging that supports charging speeds up to 18W, but its battery size is not revealed.

The Meizu Zero is expected to be revealed at MWC 2019 next month, but we still have no information on its price and availability.
