Meizu hasn’t been making as many waves as it has before, though the Chinese manufacturer still thrives in its homeland. Six months back, the company debuted the world’s first known deca-core smartphone – the Meizu Pro 6, which packed MediaTek’s Helio X25 processor. A follow up Meizu Pro 6s has been rumored for a couple of weeks now, and the its Vice President has ensured that the Meizu Pro 6s will be featuring a MediaTek chipset as well.
According to a post by Meizu Vice President Li Nan on Chinese micro blogging site Weibo, the Helio X25 underneath the hood of the six month old Meizu Pro 6 is sufficient enough for day to day use. Li Nan has also been critical of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series chips as well, expressing that MediaTek’s processors are snappy and does not overheat. The Snapdragon 810 from last year had its image tarnished after a series of overheating issues and incidents.
Before this, the Meizu Pro 6s has also been rumored to sport Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 SoC, but Li Nan’s new statement has killed that rumor off. Li Nan has also mentioned that the Meizu Pro 6 and Pro 6s will not look very much different. This is no surprise as the Meizu Pro 6s is only expected to be a minor incremental upgrade from the Pro 6. The Pro 6 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 3D Press technology, 4GB of RAM with either 32GB or 64GB of storage, and a 21MP camera. Are you team Qualcomm or team MediaTek?
