It has been 30 years since the original Legend Of Zelda was released on the NES. To commemorate the occassion, two fans of the original game has decided to port the original game to a browser.
Built using WebGL, The Legend Of Zelda 30-Year Tribute is an open-source version of the original game. The entire game is rendered in voxels, giving the NES game’s graphics an upgrade from standard pixellated sprites into “2.5D” Minecraft-ish graphics.
The Legend Of Zelda 30-Year Tribute was the brainchild of progammer Scott Lininger and artist Mike Magee, both of whom grew up playing the game when it was first released. In its current form, the browser remake is still a work in progress as many of the game’s dungeons have yet to be included in the game. Also, seeing as this is a fanmade project and not a Nintendo-authorized one, we expect the game to be taken down eventually. In the meantime, if you’re aching for something to do on your browser, you should try out this browser-remake of a classic game.
