The Honor 8 Pro wasn’t an exception in the world of rumors, but now the device has finally been launched by Huawei’s sub brand Honor. The phone features some upgrades which makes it worthy to be contended against the likes of Huawei’s own flagship series of phones. The Honor 8 Pro might seem familiar to some of us, as it is actually the Honor V9 in China. Getting a refreshed start in European markets, let’s recap on what this device has to offer.
First off, you’ll realize the huge difference in its design material when you pit the Honor 8 Pro up against its predecessor the Honor 8. Gone is the glossy glass back of the Honor 8, replaced with an aluminium backing instead. Both designs are still beautiful regardless, but the trade off is slipperiness for a fingerprint smudges. The rest of the specs are almost, if not on par with the Huawei P10 and the Mate 9. The Honor 8 Pro sports a 5.7-inch display in QHD resolution. Huawei’s trusted line of processors makes an appearance again with the Kirin 960 chipset rocking the internals, along with a whopping 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
The camera department isn’t by any means approved or designed by Leica, but considering that Honor’s non-Leica cameras have been performing pretty well, the 12MP + 12MP pair of rear shooters on the Honor 8 Pro shouldn’t be overlooked in any way. Coupled with that is a front facing selfie camera of 8 megapixels for crisp selfie shots. The phone packs a 4,000mAh battery, which Honor claims to last 2 days on regular use and 1.5 days for heavy users.
The Honor 8 Pro seems to check all boxes if you were to pit it up against the flagships of today. The phone’s price tag is nothing to sneeze at either, considering its specs. Carrying a €549 (RM2591.10) price, the Honor 8 Pro can now be ordered from the Honor website.
