Honda Malaysia has launched the 9th Generation Accord executive sedan here today, it has been redesigned to offer a sophisticated yet masculine exterior with new front bumper design, stylish LED headlights that has been borrowed from the latest Honda Civic, new LED tail lights and a two tone black and silver rims. Under the hood, this new sedan continues to offer the same 2.0-litre SOHC i-VTE and 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC engines from its predecessor, the 2.0-litre engine produces 155PS of power and 190Nm of torque, while the 2.4-litre Earth Dreams Technology engine increases the power to 175PS and torque to 225Nm.
What’s exciting this round is that the Honda Accord is the first sedan in Malaysia comes equipped with a 7-inch entertainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a feature that even luxurious car makers have not offered yet here. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto amplifies the smartphone experience on to the car’s entertainment system, which offers smartphone car-friendly features to keep the user’s eyes off their phones, essentially you will be able to use voice commands to navigate with the Apple Maps or Google Maps, make and receive phone calls, and send a text message, you will be able to use other audio apps such as Spotify and TuneIn Radio to make your drive more enjoyable with tunes, all you need to is to connect your iPhone or Android smartphones that run Android Lollipop or later to enjoy the feature.
In terms of safety features, the new Honda Accord comes with 6 airbags, which protects of the front driver, passenger and sides. It has Honda’s LANEWATCH blind spot detection system on the side mirrors, vehicle stability assist, motion adaptive power steering, hill start assist, a multi-angle reverse camera, and an emergency stop signal that flashes the rear brake lights and hazard lights should there be any sudden braking situations.
Honda Malaysia is offering a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage for the new Honda Accord, it is available in color options of Obsidian Blue Pearl, White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl, the 2.0VTi and 2.0VTi-L models is priced at RM144,800 and RM153,800 respectively with on-the-road insurance, while the top line 2.4VTi-L model is priced at RM172,800 with on-the-road insurance.
