Telegram to add “secure group call” feature by this year amidst Zoom blunders

Popular WhatsApp alternative, Telegram will be getting a group video call feature, according to the company.

In a blog post by the company, the feature was teased very briefly and vaguely – but it does say that it’ll arrive to the app this year. There will an emphasis on security, and in light of Zoom’s inadequacies in this department, we think Telegram wants to pounce on the opportunity to be the alternative people are looking for.

Of course, people already have WhatsApp, Skype, and even Facebook for their video conferencing needs, but considering Telegram doesn’t have a proper video call feature, now would be a good time for the company to introduce one.

With Telegram’s ability to be used on multiple devices with contacts all saved neatly – it would make the implementation of a video call feature in the app very simple. Of course, Telegram will take their time to make sure it’s actually safe to use first, which makes sense since Telegram prides itself on being secure.
