Garmin is now the next brand that has partnered with Spotify to allow their users to listen to their music offline, besides Samsung. The app is currently available on the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus series and will become available on other running watches, though the date is yet to be confirmed.
With the new integration of Spotify in the Fenix watches, Spotify Premium subscribers can download the music directly to their phone, and sync their playlists via WiFi, allowing users can solely rely on their watches when exercising. Users can also update their playlists by clicking “Update Downloads” on their watches.
Basically, users need to download the Spotify app through Garmin Connect IQ Store using their phones or PCs and add it to the WiFi-connected devices, which syncs to their watches. Users then authorise the app and the setup will be completed.
The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus series consists of the 5S Plus, 5 Plus and 5X Plus, and can play music up to 4.5 hours, 8 hours and 13 hours respectively. The offline storage limit for Spotify is still unknown, although the three watches are said to be able to store up to 500 songs.
