With both the GTX 1080 and the Pascal-based Titan X now out, it was only a matter of time until Nvidia announces the GTX 1080 Ti. While the company has yet to do so, a user on the OC3D forums have leaked what is supposedly the specifications for the upcoming graphics card, and it is an interesting one to look at.

For starters, the GTX 1080 Ti will be using Nvidia’s GP102 core design, which is the exact same design that Nvidia has used to develop the current gen Titan X. The GTX 1080 Ti is also expected to come with a total of 3328 CUDA cores that runs at a base and boost frequency of 1503MHz and 1623MHz respectively, beating out the Titan X in terms of clockspeed.

Perhaps the most curious part of the GTX 1080 Ti’s specifications has to do with its VRAM. Unlike both the GTX 1080 and the Titan X, the memory of the GTX 1080 Ti is stated to be GDDR5 instead of GDDR5X. Also, the GTX 1080 Ti will have 52 SM units, four short of the Titan X’s 56 SM units.

As always, do take the specification of the GTX 1080 Ti with a grain of salt, as these are not the final confirmed specification for the card. While Nvidia has not mentioned anything about the GTX 1080 Ti so far, an educated guess has been made by many that Nvidia may only reveal the card at CES 2017. If so, we are still three months away from the official unveiling of the card.
