Sources indicate that facial recognition will replace the Touch ID in the new iPhone

Yet again, another rumour about the new iPhone has surfaced, this time it is big. These rumours indicate that Apple might include face recognition on the next phone as it is apparently more accurate and secure compared to a fingerprint. Based on Bloomberg sources, it will come with a depth sensor that can scan your face with accuracy and speed, unlocking your phone in a few hundred milliseconds, even while lying down on a table. Because it collects more data, the phone will not be fooled by a photo.

Sources also mentioned that Apple wants to stick with face recognition rather than using Touch ID for verifications, but it is still unsure if this will replace the Touch ID due to the problems Apple is facing putting the fingerprint scanner under the screen. However, conflicting reports mention that the under-screen fingerprint sensor will come to the new phone and a representative at chip maker TSMC claimed that it will be there.

What do you think about the new way to unlock and authorise things on your phone, do you prefer using your finger or face? Perhaps, Apple is using your face because they can’t get the fingerprint sensor to be under the screen? We will find out soon enough when the phone launches at the end of this year.
