As impressive Sony’s smartphones can be, they are typically outside the mainstream line of sight. The Xperia XZ Premium is definitely a contender for the best smartphone of the year award. It was the first ever Snapdragon 835 powered device, ahead of devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 series. Now a possible Sony Xperia X Compact has been spotted via an AnTuTu benchmark.
Just recently, a Sony smartphone with the model number G8441 has been rumored to be of the Xperia X Compact. Based on the AnTuTu benchmark result, the alleged handset features top of the line specs, except for its display. The benchmark shows the Xperia X Compact having a less than expected 720p display instead of a Full HD display. Although the resolution could eventually be justified by its potentially small screen size, 720p smartphone displays are either of entry level standard or from yesteryear.
Apart from that, nothing else seems to be compromised on – a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Camera is still a mystery as we can’t tell whether or not the benchmark indicates a dual camera setup of 8MP sensors or 8MP sensors on the rear and front respectively.
The last significant detail is that the Xperia X Compact will run on Android 8.0 when it launches. The phone has been rumored to be unveiled at IFA 2017 Berlin come late next month.
