Sony may not be right up there on the list of most relevant smartphone brands anymore in Malaysia, but that apparently isn’t a deterrent for the Japanese brand to dole out expensive flagships in the local market.
Two of their upcoming premium devices in the form of the Xperia 5 III and the Xperia 1 III have appeared on their local website alongside their price tags – the former will set you back a whopping RM4,599; while the latter will cost an even more eye-watering RM5,799.
The Xperia 5 III comes packed with a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel that outputs at 21:9 resolution. The display is also capable of 120Hz refresh rate along with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 888 chipset alongside 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. For imaging, you get a triple 12MP camera setup at the back – it consists of the main lens, an ultrawide shooter, and a telephoto camera. For selfies, you get an 8MP sensor.
The pricier Xperia 1 III except it has a larger 6.5-inch display, up to 12GB of RAM, and support for Qi Wireless charging.
There’s no word yet one when these devices will arrive, but with the listings up now, we can expect at least one of them to arrive within this month.
