Five years since the PlayStation Network was on the receiving end of a major hack, Sony has confirmed that it will be adding two-factor authentication to its online service.
According to Polygon, a Sony representative has stated that the company is preparing to offer a two-factor authentication feature to further safeguard its users and their accounts. While no time frame was given as to when we can expect this feature, the representitive said that more details will be shared at a later date.
While no time frame has been given as to when two-factor authentication will be coming to PSN, we assume that it shouldn’t be long now as the PS3’s 4.80 firmware has an error dialog box that mentions two-factor authentication should you enter incorrect information.
This isn’t the first time a gaming network has had two-factor authentication as both Steam and Xbox One has had this feature for a long time. But as they say, it’s better late than never.
