Since Sony launched the PlayStation 5, the console has been selling out globally at rapid rates. This makes it the fastest-selling PlayStation console in Sony’s history — over 10 million units in just 8 months.
But it doesn’t stop there; despite the huge amount of units sold, many fans are still waiting for their turns to get their hands on the PS5. “We still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for PS5 continues to outstrip supply,” said Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Shortage of PS5 causes disappointment in Malaysian fans
Sadly for Malaysian fans, many are frustrated with the company because they can never seem to get the PS5, even when it comes to pre-orders. Sony Malaysia has been opening up pre-order batches at a monthly basis, but the consoles always sell out within the first few minutes.
Users who are unable to get the console are getting more impatient as they fail to purchase the console and witness more scalpers on the internet selling the PS5 with a ridiculously high price tag. Some will even sell the console up to RM3,900 — in comparison, the digital edition is originally priced at RM1,869 and the disc edition is priced at RM2,299.
Game titles to look forward to if you’re a proud PlayStation 5 owner
On the other hand, if you already own a PS5, Sony has confirmed some titles that will be released in the future. This includes the new God of War, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West and more.
“Without your support and confidence, this early success would not have been possible. We are making steady progress with available global supply and can’t wait for the day when everyone who wants a PS5 can easily get one,” said Veronica Rogers, Sony’s SVP of Global Sales and Business Operations.
