Last month, Xiaomi wowed us with its concept phone, the Mi MIX, which was revealed alongside the Chinese manufacturer’s latest flagship Mi Note 2 smartphone. While the Mi Note 2 turned out to be an impressive and attractive phone in its own stride, the Mi MIX pretty much stole the limelight during Xiaomi’s launch event. The concept phone sported an edgeless design, making it bezel-free on the top and along the sides. As pretty as the phone can be, those who have gotten their hands on the Mi MIX are concerned about what will happen if the edgeless designed phablet happened to drop, and it looks like someone has finally dropped it.
According to GizmoChina, a Mi MIX unit has reportedly taken a tumble from the hands of a Xiaomi employee at the company’s headquarters in China. The phablet certainly did not look pretty after having taken a fall, possibly on a hard surface. Looking at the image above, the Mi MIX has taken a knock, landing on its top left corner. The result is a cracked screen plus a broken ceramic frame. By the looks of it, and the fact that it is a concept phone, fixing this Mi MIX will cost an arm and a leg since the Mi MIX’s body was designed seamlessly.
Having said that, it is probably wise to fit such a fragile smartphone in a case of some sort. There is a leather case available for the Mi MIX by Xiaomi to minimize such damage or avoid the disaster altogether. We do hope that Xiaomi makes a bumper case for the Mi MIX phablet, now that we’ve seen the aftermath of its tumble. What do you think?
