Snapchat is famous for its filters — particularly that one dog filter — and now the company takes it to a new level with its new camera mode called “3D Camera Mode”.
The new feature offers 3D effects, lenses and filters when Snapchat users capture selfies. It’s similar to Facebook’s 3D Photo, where you can move your phone around to experience the 3D effect.
Based on its official video focusing on the 3D Camera Mode, you can find the new feature at its drop-down menu on the right. For iOS users, only those with the iPhone X and the newer models can access to this mode. I can’t be entirely sure, but it’s currently not available on the iPhone XR at the time of writing — the feature is probably still rolling out so we’ll have to wait and see.
On that note, Snapchat is reported to extend this feature to more devices in the future. The 3D Camera Mode is still unavailable to Android devices so Android users will have to be patient — Snapchat does have the tendency to prioritise iOS users first.
