Sharp Aquos S2 sold out in first sale

Sharp is back in proper action, having released a smartphone with a near bezel-less front after so long. The last time Sharp attempted to produce a phone like that was a couple of years ago with the Sharp Aquos Crystal. The latest addition by the company – the Sharp Aquos S2 was unveiled just recently and it has begun to go on sale.

Chinese retailer JD.com reports that the Sharp Aquos S2 was sold out in just under 24 hours, making the device quite the fast seller for a lesser known brand in the smartphone industry. JD.com did not indicate the number of units sold within the time frame but it has probably amounted to thousands, which can be considered a feat to Sharp.

The Sharp Aquos S2 sports a front near bezel-less display which looks similar to that of the Essential Phone. Underneath the hood is either a Snapdragon 630 or 660 processor and 4GB of 6GB of RAM.

The second wave of the Sharp Aquos S2 units are slated to arrive some time later today. JD.com has pointed out that interested buyers would need to register for the device in order to land a purchase. Either way, a secured purchase isn’t guaranteed. Would you like the Sharp Aquos S2 to make a Malaysian appearance?
