Samsung’s new J series smartphones are decent when it comes to specs and value, unfortunately they all lack of a notification light, which is an important feature to some as it tells you the events happening on your phone without turning it on. Therefore, Samsung has added a really huge notification ring surrounding the camera ring of the Galaxy J2 (2016), which the company calls it the Smart Glow feature, this latest J series member has some decent entry-level specs as well, such as a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, an 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera, LTE support and a 2600mAh battery. Furthermore, the phone will come preloaded with Android Marshmallow, which is a step up from the other new J series smartphones.
The Smart Glow notification ring will allow users to configure up to four alerts, which users can choose to create and choose the color that they desire, it can also be assigned to specific contacts and used for positioning the rear camera for taking higher resolution selfies. Sadly, the Galaxy J2 (2016) will only be available in the Indian market starting July 14th and it retails at Rs.9,750 (RM578), which is slightly more expensive than the entry-level Galaxy J1 (2016) but with a richer set of features, but lets keep our fingers cross that the local Samsung folks would bring in the device at a later time, given that entry-level smartphones do tend to sell really well in Malaysia.
