Samsung unveils the extremely thin 5.9mm Galaxy A8 with a huge 3050mAh battery

After a moment of silence, Samsung is beginning to make things interesting in the mobile space as the leading Android smartphone manufacturer, the company’s Galaxy A8 has just gone official on its site and it is the thinnest smartphone ever released by Korean company at a mere 5.9mm.

The Galaxy A8’s performance internals consist of a mid-range Snapdragon 615 SoC which has been widely used in most thin smartphones, it has 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal memory expandable via Micro SD, a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a f/1.9 aperture 16-megapixel main and 5-megapixel front camera, and surprisingly packs a huge 3050mAh battery despite of its form factor which also challenges many of its competitors out there. The phone will also come preloaded with the company’s slimmed down TouchWiz UX based on Android Lollipop, features the very same swipe fingerprint scanner found on the Galaxy S6 and supports LTE networks.

Now that the Galaxy A8 is made official, there has been no indication on pricing and global availability from officials, as it is currently a China exclusive device, but knowing Sammy, we could expect the device to reach here very soon, and this could be a more appealing device if you’re not up for the Galaxy S6’s performance since the phone packs pretty much the same camera optics and should have a decent everyday performance.
