The short lived Galaxy Note 7 earlier this year has proven to be a nightmare for Samsung, as the company suffered huge losses due to battery issues surrounding the phablet and its failed global recall. Since then, the Korean giant has been picking up the pieces in hopes of making up for its losses and damages sustained, which brings us to why the Galaxy S8 is very much vital to Samsung.
The Galaxy S8 has been rumored for quite a bit now since the death of the Galaxy Note 7. The former device will definitely be Samsung’s life line, hence the company is said to be putting a lot of ground work into its next flagship series. Recent rumors tell us that Samsung will be using bezel-less OLED display panels for the S8. It is uncertain as to whether or not there will still be two variants when it comes to the S8 – a standard variant and an Edge variant, but a source from Weibo has claimed that the S8 will be retaining the same QHD resolution on its display, while Samsung will be implementing its new bezel-less OLED technology upon the 2017 flagship handset.
Samsung has also reportedly not ordered home buttons for the S8, which hints that the company might be ditching the physical Home button altogether with the device. The handset is also said to be featuring an on screen optical fingerprint sensor, replacing the current fingerprint sensor which doubles as the physical Home button. This leads us back to the company’s bezel-less display, with a huge possibility that the S8 will sport a much slimmer chin, also meaning that we might be expecting on screen buttons instead of capactive ones that currently flank the physical Home button.
