Last month, Huawei filed a lawsuit against Samsung, alleging that the Korean company has infringed on some of its 4G-related patents. In retaliation, Samsung has fired back with a lawsuit of its own, claiming Huawei has infringed on six patents owned by Samsung.

This lawsuit was filed through multiple courts in China. An intellectual property court in Beijing has stated on its Weixin account that Samsung is suing Huawei and a department store in Beijing and has claimed 161 million yuan in damages. Apart from that, Samsung has asked that both Huawei and said department store to stop production and sales of products that infringes on its patents. These products include the Mate 8 and the Honor line of smartphones.

A spokeswoman for Samsung has since confirmed the filing of the lawsuit, but did not clarify as to what these patents are, or which Chinese courts will be involved with this lawsuit.. “Despite our best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, it has regrettably become necessary to take legal action in order to defend our intellectual property,” says a statement issued by Samsung to Reuters.
