Samsung reveals the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 with an updated heart rate tracker

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 is officially announced and this time Samsung’s fitness wearable comes with a bigger screen and intuitive touch bezel.

The Galaxy Watch Active2 is more customisable now, offering choices such as the Bluetooth variant or LTE variant, 44mm or 40mm straps and even aluminium or stainless steel design. In addition, it is now slimmer and users can customise their watch face by either scanning the QR code on the package of their strap and snap a picture of their outfit with the watch to find a matching watch face.

In addition to that, the Galaxy Watch Active2 helps users stay active. It tracks its user’s movements and reminds them whenever they’ve been inactive for a long time. It can also track other exercises including walking, running cycling, rowing and supports GPS and has 5ATM rating so swimming with the watch won’t be a problem.

With an updated heart rate tracker, the Galaxy Watch Active2 is better at tracking stress levels and also sleep stages. It now sports eight photodiodes on its new design that offers more accuracy in tracking your heart rate.

As expected, the watch also functions as a smartwatch that can control your camera, play music, accept and reject calls and more. With LTE connectivity, you can leave your phone when you go for jogs and still listen to music. The Galaxy Watch Active2 also supports wireless charging, just like its predecessor. In addition to its 5ATM water rating, it also has an IP68 dust rating for further protection against damage.

The price of the Galaxy Watch Active2 is still a mystery, but it will be announced later on during the Unpacked event launch that will also reveal the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series.
