Samsung provides identification for safe Galaxy Note 7s

With some countries getting their replacement Note 7s today, Samsung has decided to publish a guide that would allow anyone to identify whether or not their Note 7 is explosion-free.

The first way to identify the safety of the Note 7 begins with its packaging. From this point forward, safe versions of the Note 7 will come with a square symbol located on the label of the packaging box. The second method is through the battery icon located on the status bar, the lock screen, and the power-off screen. On Note 7s that are deemed safe, the battery icon will be coloured green with a white outline. While this green indicator goes against Google’s Android Compatibility Definition Document, Google has granted an exception for Samsung in order to use the green indicator.

Should neither of these indicators appear on either the packaging or the phone, this is a clear sign that you really should exchange your Note 7 before something bad happens.
