Mobile payments have come a long way and Samsung Malaysia has just brought it to the next level with the launch of Samsung Pay in Malaysia today, the service was launched as a public beta for supported Samsung phone models previously and only works with Maybank VISA credit and debit cards. In conjunction with the launch, the company announced new partnerships with four more bank partners on top the current one, which includes CIMB Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered and Hong Leong (available later). Besides, Samsung Pay has also extended support for loyalty cards such as B-Infinite, Bonuslink and Sunway Pals.
Samsung Pay will benefit users who holds a Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge+, Note 5, A5 (2017 and 2016) and A7 (2017 and 2016) smartphone, the service can be used almost anywhere even if the merchant is using a non-paywave credit card terminal, as the service supports both NFC and Magnectic Secure Transmission (MST) technology. If you are using any of the said Samsung smartphones, setting up your credit card in your phone is pretty simple and secure, and you don’t need to be worried about thefts and misuse of your card as Samsung encrypts all of your credit card information, alongside with secure authorization such as tokenization, biometric authentication and KNOX protection.
