Samsung is a name that still rings a bell when it comes to Android tablets, even though the company hasn’t put in as much effort as Apple has done to the iPad Pro on its flagship Galaxy Tab S3, the company has announced an update to its entry-level tablet offering, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) is now available in Malaysia for RM1,199, as you would expect out of an entry-level tablet, it comes with a typical 1280×720 8-inch display, performance is powered by a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz alongside with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage.
In an overall hardware package, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) doesn’t look as attractive as the Huawei Mediapad M3 Lite, the latter is priced much lower and has more RAM and storage, a higher resolution display and not to forget to mention the dual Harman Kardon speakers. However, Samsung might have an upper hand when it comes to battery life, since the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) sports a larger 5000mAh battery and has a lower screen resolution to power, the tablet will also support 4G LTE data with its single SIM slot.
To make things a little more attractive to buy this tablet for your kids, Samsung Malaysia is offering 9 paid apps for free through the Kids App Value Pack worth US$33, which comprises of LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes, LEGO Harry Potter: Year 1-4, Brio World, My Little Garage, Pettson’s Inventions 3, Toca Hair Salon 3, Toca Life: School and Toca Life: Farm. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) is now available in all Samsung Experience Stores and retailers.
