The practicality of a smart watch hasn’t been fully achieved just yet. Last year and this year saw companies make wearables whose designs are more similar to the traditional time piece. The software experience for smart watches are crucial to users as well. Samsung is like the rebel when it comes to smart watch software, developing its own Tizen OS instead of adopting Android Wear.

Regardless, Tizen OS has matured over the years, and has proven to be extremely fluid and snappy when it comes to operation. The Samsung Gear S3 runs on Tizen OS, and is the company’s most attractive smart watch to date. The wearable now supports Spotify offline playback.

Similar to how Spotify offline works on PC’s and smartphones, users will be able to download songs and playlists on their Gear S3 smartwatch for offline playback later. This feature has yet to be available on Android Wear smartwatches, although Google Play Music has already implemented offline playback for Android Wear. Nevertheless, most smartwatches only have 4GB of storage, hence users will only be able to store limited amount of music.

Spotify is also rumored to roll out the same feature to the Apple Watch in the near future. The company is tipped to engage with a third party developer for Spotify offline playback, like how a third party developer was hired to make the Spotify app for watchOS.
