Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 launched: Priced below RM8,500

Well, it’s here – the phone so innovative Samsung deemed it worthy of a second, dedicated Unpacked event – the Galaxy Z Fold2.

This time, its full list of features has been announced – one of the biggest additions is Flex Mode, which lets you prop up the phone like a laptop of sorts, and display extended functionalities for a compatible app like YouTube, Google Duo, or even the native camera app.

There’s also screen-to-screen transition which lets you keep an app open on whichever display you’re using.

We also have the full specs for the cameras now – it’s a triple 12MP lens affair here consisting of the main shooter, an ultrawide camera, and a telephoto lens. There are two 10MP selfie shooters on both displays; on top of that, the Galaxy Z Fold2 now lets you use the main lenses to take selfies, with the cover display acting as the viewfinder.

Samsung also continues to make use of their partnership with Microsoft by allowing you make full use of the flexible display with the full suite of Office apps.

As for the specs, we’ve covered this before, so here’s a quick re-cap – the phone comes with a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel on the front, while a 7.6-inch panel appears when unfolded. Both displays support HDR10+ for better colour and dynamic range output.

Under the hood, the phone comes equipped with a Snapdragon 865+ chipset, plus 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The phone sports a respectable 4,500mAh battery – for charging, you can juice your phone with a 25W fast charger, or 11W of wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 comes in multiple colour options, and you also get to pick a different hue for the hinge.

The phone is priced at USD1,999 (RM8,280) and will be available this September 18. There’s no word on its local pre-order deals yet, but we’ll keep you posted when we get more information from Samsung Malaysia.
