Samsung has officially introduced the Samsung Galaxy S20 series today at their Unpacked event – crossing the decade mark by breaking the naming tradition for the popular flagship series.
There will be three models – the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. When it comes to display, all three devices QHD 1440p resolution at 120Hz – it’s defaulted at 60Hz, so you’ll have to change it in the settings.
The Galaxy S20 measures at 6.2-inches, the Galaxy S20+ is much bigger at 6.7-inches, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra is a massive 6.9-inches – plus, all variants are HDR 10+-certified.
Besides that, Samsung has clearly put a lot of money in the imaging department this time around – the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ have a 64MP telephoto lens that supports up to 30 times; while the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra a 48MP telephoto sensor that’s packed behind a folding telephoto lens, which with the help of AI, is capable of up to 100x zoom. The S20 Ultra also has a 108MP wide angle lens which uses nanobinning to achieve 12MP shots if wanted.
The Galaxy S20+ and GalaxyS20 Ultra also has a DepthVision camera lie we’ve seen before on the Galaxy Note 10+ – this allows for bokeh shots, and live focus features on video. For selfies, the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ sports a 10MP front-facing shooter; the Galaxy S20 Ultra takes things up multiple notches with a 40MP lens instead.
In terms of videography, all models support up to 8K recording and OIS. Samsung has even worked with YouTube to allow users to upload 8K footage to the platform via 5G connectivity. Other features include Single Take, which takes clips using every lens and lets you pick out the photos you like best from your gallery.
Under the hood, each variant will come with either a Snapdragon 865 or an Exynos 990 and has support for 5G. The smaller two models also support regular LTE. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ comes with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM with up to 512GB internal storage for the latter. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S20 Ultra gets up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB internal storage.
The Galaxy S20 is powered with a 4,000mAh battery, the S20+ gets a 4,500mAh pack while the S20 Ultra gets a 5,000mAh battery. The former two supports 25W fast charge, while the latter supports up to 45W fast charge.
In terms of colourway – Cosmic gray is available across the board, while Cloud Blue is only available for the Galaxy S20 and S20+; the two bigger models also get Cosmic Black. The Samsung Galaxy S20 is priced from USD999 (RM4,127); the Galaxy S20+ (RM4,954) from USD1,199; and the Galaxy S20 Ultra from USD1,399 (RM5,780).
