Reports are surfacing about the next Galaxy Note phone having a under-screen fingerprint sensor when it releases on the second half of 2018, according to an analysis with KGI Securities. This would mean that the next full body display from Samsung could potentially have the feature that would make the full-body screen phones perfect.

Currently, there are three companies that are supplying the Korean Giant with the technology that would support this feature. One of the methods is using an OLED screen that will double as a light source for the sensor which can potentially improve battery life. Another report states that BeyondEyes and Samsung LSI have already shipped the part samples to Samsung and they might actually win the contract to supply the parts. Although Samsung also uses facial recognition using the eyes, it is still not a solid enough feature and can be easily fooled and a lot of people are not really keen on Apple’s Face ID.

For now, it seems like, with the recent increased in the bezeless phone screen race, many other companies might be working on bringing the feature to their phones as well. Only time can tell if we would finally have fingerprint sensors on the front of the phone, rather than the back.
