Samsung has confirmed that it will soon expand its Galaxy M-series lineup of budget Android smartphones. The company will be launching the Galaxy M40 at an event in India on June 11. In addition to confirming the smartphone’s launch date, Samsung has also confirmed some of the key hardware features of the upcoming smartphone.

The Galaxy M40 teaser page on the Samsung India website confirms the upcoming smartphone will have an Infinity-O display. This means the Galaxy M40 will be the first M-series smartphone from Samsung to feature a cutout in the display for the selfie camera. Rumors suggest the phone will have a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy M40 will be a significant upgrade over the Galaxy M30. Instead of an Exynos 7904 chipset, the Galaxy M40 will have a Snapdragon 6 series processor inside. While Samsung hasn’t confirmed it yet, recent leaks have suggested it will feature an 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset.

Moving on to optics, the Samsung Galaxy M40 will have a triple-camera setup at the rear, similar to the Galaxy M30. In addition to the triple rear cameras, the phone will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. The Galaxy M40 is expected to debut with Android 9 Pie-based Samsung One UI 1.1 out of the box.
