Last week, Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy A80 mid-range Android smartphone at its ‘A Galaxy’ event. The company now appears to be gearing up to expand its Galaxy M-series of budget-friendly smartphones.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy M40 bearing the model number “SM-M405F/DS” has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Just as expected, the certification page does not offer any information regarding the hardware specs of the device. Still, it does suggest that the Galaxy M40 may go official soon, possibly within the next few weeks.
While the hardware specs of the Galaxy M40 are yet to surface online, there is a strong possibility of it being very similar to the Galaxy M30 in many areas. We expect it to be powered by the same Exynos 7904 octa-core processor as the Galaxy M30, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM. On the back of the phone, you can expect to see a similar triple-camera setup as the M30.
As for software, the Wi-Fi certification confirms the upcoming smartphone will run on the Android Pie operating system out of the box. All the other Galaxy M-series smartphones launched so far have debuted with the older Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box.
